Every signal, checked
Every dataset is queried on every lookup. A dataset that didn't match is shown as not seen.
The evidence behind each match
Every field below is one the API returns for this address; the JSON view has each as the API answers it.
Leased hosting or cloud space. On its own it means the traffic comes from a server, not that anyone is hiding behind it. Next to another signal, it backs that signal up.
Common questions
What is my IP address?
The public address your connection reached us from, which every site you visit sees. It usually belongs to your router or your mobile network rather than to your device, and every device behind it shares it.
Why does it say I'm on a VPN or proxy?
Because the address is in one of our datasets: a VPN or proxy service exits from it, or did recently. Without a VPN on, look for a work network's web gateway, which we list as a relay, or an app that enrolled your connection into a proxy network. On mobile data the address is shared with other subscribers, and one of them may be the cause. If we're wrong, Report a problem sends us the address.
Will a VPN hide my IP address?
From the sites you visit, yes: they see the VPN's address instead of yours. Commercial VPNs' addresses are what this page detects, though, so a site that checks can tell a VPN is in use.
Why is my address IPv6?
Your network and your browser both support IPv6, so the connection went over it. It's as much your address as an IPv4 one would be, and every dataset here covers IPv6.
Can I check this from the command line?
Yes: curl https://vpndetection.io/myip answers with this record as JSON. For your own scripts, the API's GET /myip answers ip and is_vpn without a key, and every flag your plan has with one.
Start without signing up.
Paste it into a terminal. No account needed. 1,000 lookups a day per address, answering ip and is_vpn.
